To increase performance we connect directly to the underlying database instead of using its API.

Canvas recommends installation on a PostgreSQL database, though Oracle is also a popular alternative. Use the Oracle, PostgreSQL, or other database connector depending on where your instance of Canvas is hosted.

The Canvas schema, including table names and column definitions, is documented within Canvas’ technical reference manual provided for your specific version of Canvas.
